Day 5 and 6

By Hospitality in the Caribbean 2024

Day 5: A Day of Giving and Luminous Wonders

On our fifth day in Jamaica, we set out on a heartwarming adventure. Visiting a local elementary school with school supplies for the kids, I teamed up with the energetic four-year-olds. Activities like dancing and reading created unforgettable moments. The children’s joy was infectious; they didn’t want us to leave.

Returning to the hotel, we squeezed in some free time before our final excursion, the luminous lagoon. A unique experience, the lengthy drive was worth it. Back at the hotel, fatigue mingled with happiness after a day filled with meaningful connections and luminous wonders.

Day 6: Dunn’s River Delight and Farewell Celebrations

Our sixth day commenced with another resort tour, this time at Dunn’s River. Welcomed with a charming song, the tour showcased the resort’s beauty. Lunch was a spectacular affair, set against a stunning backdrop with an array of appetizers. Laughter echoed as we indulged, and the resort introduced us to their GM and chef.

After a delightful lunch, music filled the air as we prepared for a farewell dinner. Peers shared heartfelt speeches about our study abroad experience and the invaluable lessons we gained. Leaving with a treasure trove of new knowledge and memories, the farewell dinner marked the perfect end to a transformative journey. #JamaicaAdventures #StudyAbroadMemories 🌟🇯🇲

Day 4 in Jamaica brought a taste of luxury at Sandals Ochi. The resort tour was a journey into paradise, unveiling the magic behind the scenes. Learning how things worked was eye-opening, What added a surprising twist to our day was discovering that Sandals Ochi has its own laundry plantation. Not only does it keep things spick and span for its guests but also extends its laundry prowess to the other Sandals resort. and the freedom to choose our dinner spot from a range of restaurants was a treat.

Dinner was a culinary masterpiece, each bite a delight to the senses.

The interconnectedness and efficiency behind the scenes added a new layer to our appreciation of Sandals Ochi. As the sun set on Day 4, we were left with memories of learning, indulgence, and the seamless orchestration that makes a stay at Sandals unforgettable. #SandalsOchiMagic #JamaicanLuxury 🌴✨

Embarking on a study abroad program in Jamaica was an exciting experience filled with unexpected connections and unforgettable moments. The journey began at the Fort Lauderdale airport, where we all met with excitement and nerves, ready to explore a new culture and learn some new things.

We boarded the plane to Montego Bay, I didn’t know anyone However, the atmosphere changed on the bus from the airport to our hotel. Conversations started, and we were all pretty excited.

Arriving at the hotel was super fun, even more so after the two-hour drive. They welcomed us with refreshing towels and tropical drinks, we were excited by the vibrant energy of the island. To add a little touch, we were greeted by Sesame Street characters, creating a playful and welcoming atmosphere.

The first day ended with check-in at our rooms and a group photo with our new friends and our Sesame Street characters.

Day two brought an exciting agenda as we met the heads of the departments, we were set to shadow some. After informative presentations, a well-deserved break allowed us to absorb the information and recharge for the hands-on experiences awaiting us.

I found myself assigned to the wedding department, and it turned out to be really great. The day was filled with practical learning as we immersed ourselves in the art of wedding preparation. From assisting with decorations to arranging tableware and chairs, every task felt like a step closer to understanding the intricacies of event planning.

The wedding department not only provided a unique and enjoyable learning experience but also highlighted the importance of teamwork and attention to detail in creating magical moments for couples on their special day. It was a hands-on adventure that seamlessly combined education and enjoyment.
