Predeparture

I have never been so excited yet so nervous before a trip in my life. Greece was always on the top of my list of travel destinations for as long as I can remember, but with any new adventure comes with a little bit of butterflies fluttering in my stomach. This is a once in a lifetime type of a trip because of how much I admire the country, Greece. I want to explore the different landmarks, relax at the beach to get an amazing view of the water, spend some time with my family here and try all the delicious food that Greece has to offer. I am excited to learn more about the history of Greece, and how Greek mythology plays into the role of how Greece was perceived in the past and present.

The day before the trip, the reality of it all fully kicked in. I went back and forth between packing and unpacking what I thought was unnecessary, getting my travelling documents ready, and making sure I did not forget anything important. I went from the feet up in regard to packing, so I started with my shoes and socks and ended with my toothbrush and toothpaste. My luggage mostly consists of shorts and crop tops because of how hot it is in Greece, and I made sure to bring plenty of sunscreen with me as well. I also have some “nice” outfits and shoes with me, but I made sure to leave some room in my suitcase for the inevitable shopping that will incur while I am here. One thing that I forgot was some bug spray, but luckily my sister and dad brought some with them. Also, even though it was second on my packing list, I almost forgot about the socks.

After this trip, my family and I are going straight home (minus the layover in Frankfurt and Boston, but close enough). I already know that I will be simultaneously sad to leave but ready to be back in my own bed by then. Until that time though, I plan on having as much fun on this trip as possible and make some incredible new memories.
