Blog 7 – Markets, Breweries & Meaningful Moments

Fuller’s Griffin Brewery tour showed me a lot about what beverage production and tourism looks like. This brand is one of the biggest beer producers in the UK so it’s important that they are being consistent with their product. Our tour guide was very informative and showed us to entire process behind making and selling their products. In each room, I could see the attention to detail. She showed us different types of grains that they use and why, demonstrated the history behind the brand, and gave educational information regarding their equipment and production process. This trip has exposed me to a whole new side of beverage production that I did not know about. Beer contains multiple different process and putting those together perfectly to massively produce a product is impressive. The trip taught me the importance of consistency and organization. Each member of staff has to make sure that they are doing their job correctly and efficiently to ensure that the product being produced is to the standard of the brand. This place contained a lot of history, as it still aims to be a local beer. They attempt to use surroundings to it’s benefit as it did when the company first started. They also still use the same system just with updated machinery. The town itself is made of past brewers and the brewery itself has a influence on the town. On our tour, the guide emphasized the importance of giving back to the community and continuing the traditions set from the past. While there are producing on a more massive scale, its important to not disrupt the local flow of the community, they have multiple events that give back to the people as well not just financially but also physically.

Camden Market was very different than any of the other markets that we went to. This one was way more biased on shopping for clothes. Whether it was vintage items or new trendy pieces it had everything that a shopper could want. Throughout this trip we have visited multiple markets and they all are very similar to each other. These markets really affect hospitality in London. In these markets there are a lot to do and see, its becomes a huge tourist destination. Entrepreneurship is huge in London. All these Markets allows for small vendors to really thrive. They given the stability as these markets are happening every single week and lots of people are in attendance. It givens them exposure as many people from around the world are traveling to these markets specifically for these vendors. Entrepreneurship is huge within the Hospitality industry so it was really exciting to see so much of it in London. I really enjoyed this market because it stood out from the rest. There were so many vendors and things to see, everyone was so kind and welcoming. I believe that this one was the best in terms of organizations and product.

On our free day we did a lot of things but that one most exciting to me was visiting Abbey Road. I am a huge beetles fan as well as my dad so I was excited to go to this monumental place. We got to street and took pictures just like the cover of the album. Luckily there was four of us in our group which lead to the photo being perfect. Then we went to go and visit the gift shop which had so much cool merchandise and history. I was able to grab something for my family and just really take it all in. I have a lot of “Wow” moments this trip and this had to be one of them. It was like “I really am in London”. After that we went to a famous place called Spud Bros which is known for the jacket potatoes. I was excited as I had seen it all over TikTok and to be honest it was really good. Overall just had an amazing time exploring the city with my friends.

There were many memorable experiences throughout this day. I think that the important thing to remember is that you need to live in the moment. When on these trips you can get really overwhelmed with the situation that’s happening as there is so much to do. Taking a step back and remembering where you are is important. In my future career, I would love to create a space where this can be practiced. I want to create a memorable experience that people can live in. These are the moments that guests will recall on after the trip is over, and when they come to visit again you know that your business will be one of the places they come to again.
