Prague is known for their food, history and their honest culture. However, what interested me the most was their beverage culture. Pilsner is a Czech made beer that we had the opportunity of touring and tasting straight from the underground brewery. Czech beer plays a pivotal role in the social culture and even connecting with others to make friends out. Their beer is made in the authentic Czech way, using high quality Czech grown hops. In the pilsner tour we got to see not only how they make their beer, but how they make their own bottles. Pilsner values quality and recipe over timeliness which is why the beer is that much better. Using old fashion copper bakers, the beer brews to eventually transported underneath to the caves where it sits to de mold. The brewery caves are so large there is a map upon entering that shows your how to get out. The brewery itself had history of some of the difficulties they had upon creating. Firstly, the caves were dug out by miners that took a very long time or create. As well as, had a flood around 30 years ago that filled the entire underground. In this, they had to evolve and re-create what once was after being flooded. That alone made me think about how greatly the Czech culture values dedication for things that are sacred to them, including this beer. Pilsner is not like other light beers and comes in a variety of ways to be served. The main selling point, and why I preferred, was because if the traditional brewing it has less carbonation and more flavor as a still lighter beer. On our food tour our guide explained, how she realty did not enjoy carbonation and orders a “milk” which is served ¾ foam until the beer settles. The culture itself has fun with the beer and truly enjoys supporting their local, timeless brewery which is now successful worldwide. The tour of Pilsner made it clear the company was a family and all followed working with that they love in a nontoxic, passionate way. They did not include how success they are other than supplying information of countries that all have access now to the beverage, but instead on how they created it and why they chose to go through these challenges for this beer. It was my favorite tour we had, and it showed the importance of substance on quantity, while still representing how you can be successful in that.
