Going into Prague I had a few known expectations. Firstly, I found the safety of the city very appealing. Prague is known as one of the few places that has a calmer culture with a smaller population, that increases this effect of safety all around. The statistics alone rate Prague to have a safety index score of 75.53 out of 100 on numbeo. The country also makes it more difficult for citizens to access weapons and has an honest policy about most public transport. Secondly, I expect the food to be as good as I remember when I has been to Prague the first time. Specifically, the beef goulash and deserts excite me the most. The Czechs have their spin on the beef goulash in an elevated, flavorful, take, which I enjoy. they add more spices and include more flour into their stew to make it fluffy and delicious. The best holiday food to be celebrated is going to be found in the Christmas market. Based on research, kababs’, sausage and hot wine are the main characters in this foodie-based tradition. Lastly are the Christmas markets, since I have not been able to fully grasp the excitement of these markets from previous research but am most excited about indulging in this tourist activity. As well as it being the #1 tourism hit spot in Prague for the winter visitors, the market also seems to be a Czech tradition for locals. The markets are placed in almost every town square in Prague, making everyone able to get involved in the Christmas spirit but also offering a variety of options from the Christmas booths in the markets in what they offer. These markets are the most talked about destination when others around the world think of Prague. The whole city takes part in this tradition, whether it’s grabbing a quick bite after work, grabbing wrapping paper to gifts for your loved ones, and of course to grab a hot wine with friends. In our itinerary, it states we will be visiting a more traditional market when we go to the town of Plzen. The itinerary is packed with multiple tours and activities that will truly help me gain the knowledge I intend to there. From the liteniary list Specifically, I am most interested in the concentration camp we are going to visit. I have traveled a fair amount, to almost 20 countries at the age of 21, but have never been to a previous concentration camp tour. This information will be completely new to me from the view of someone who lives in a country who was affected by this to that intensity. I have no expectations from this except to gain knowledge that American schools did not teach us due its monetization. I expect the tour will be more informative and truer to facts, including stories and pieces of history I would have never known if had not gone. My favorite and what I believe to be the most privileged part of traveling, is getting to see history preserved based off respect for their own country. Prague is a niche place in the sense of how much history they accurately preserve. I cannot wait to be able to take part in learning first-hand about this wonderful city.
