My name is Sebastian Serrano. I am a 21 year old Undergraduate Student studying for my eventual Masters in Hospitality and Tourism Management. I dont have a particular focus as of right now but will likely be going into events, F&B, and hotels. My interest include the Creative Arts (music, theater, film, paintings, fashion, etc.), culinary of course, travel, and am wanting to get into the health and wellness/fitness world. This Hospitality in London Trip was right up my alley because it blends my interests of British Culture and Hospitality. I have always dreamed of going to London and experiencing that side of the World. It also has such a blend of cultures and I feel as though it is a great first destination when visiting Europe for the first time.
When I think of London and its hospitality, I imagine it to be very homey and attentive. I feel as though there are going to be many differences in terms of the cultural when it comes to tipping, specific differences in resources, and overall steps of service. It is a known stereotype that the British are very kind and hospitable but I guess we shall see what happens. I am very excited to experience the differences and see what I can take away from it and use in my future. Regardless, experiencing this service will allow me to connect with tourists that come from the UK in the States. I am also excited for the different cuisines that will be available and to see which they make the most authentic, and which I like most. I will definitely be experimenting with my palette this trip and hoping for the best.
When it comes to my own personal brand, I want to be outgoing and personable. I want to make everyone I interact with feel seen and heard, whether this be people we interact with, colleagues and peers, or our guest speakers. I want to put my best foot forward and leave behind the hardships and drama I have been dealing with in my personal life and focus on this new opportunity that has graciously found me that will benefit my career. I will do everything in my power to ensure I have the best experience possible and gain as much knowledge possible while enjoying myself in a dream destination.
My 3 goals would be:
– Hit all my personal goals in coming to London (Oldest Barbershop, See a show at the West End, eat local foods)
– Becomes friends with locals that I can continue to be friends with once this experience is over
– Grow as a person in every sense
