Expectations:

My expectations for this trip are very high. I want to experience the beauty of Greece, the culture, the people, the surroundings full of historical places and I want to try the food, specifically the olives, and if I can grab one olive from a tree and take it home to the United States to try and plant it myself that would be awesome. To move on, going in a group representing FIU with mostly people I don’t know is something scary. Like now, thinking about it, I don’t know if they will be friendly towards me. I don’t know if it’s a trip with much free time, or if we’re going to be studying and/or doing homework most of the time. But that leaves me with lots of expectations, because I want this trip to be a fun experience, with just some homework and mostly doing activities that will be new and interesting for me while learning about the different history about Greece.

Packing:

I will be using a medium sized suit case and a backpack for all the things I will need for this trip to Greece. My list of things that I’ll bring is not big, just the essential things. In my suitcase I’ll have some casual shirts, a formal shirt, some shorts and pants, also my bathroom products like shampoo and conditioner, some bathing suits just in case if there’s a pool or beach somewhere, and 2 pair of shoes and sandals (again, just in case). In my bag I’ll bring my headphones, my iPad, a hoodie, and anything that I would need for the airplane and to do my homework for the course during the free time.

Something I forgot:

I don’t think I forgot anything that is required for the trip or that might affect me for the rest of the trip, but I forgot to bring my own shampoo, soap and conditioner which they will probably give in the hotel. I also lost my glasses, so I’ll have to buy a new pair because the sun is very strong in Greece.

Plans before the trip:

My plan before the trip is to go to Italy. I would be doing 10 days, from June 9th to the 19th, and after that I catch a flight to Athens so that I can match the trip to Italy with the study abroad in Greece. In Italy I’ll be 4 days in Rome, 2 days in Florence, 1 day in Pisa and 2 days in Cinque Terre, and in Cinque Terre I’ll visit La Spezia, Riomaggiore, Monterosso and Manarola.
